Senior Research Analyst
Build and shape the market intelligence capability of a fast-growing, global organisation.
Oritain is the global leader in product origin verification, with locations in Auckland, Dunedin, London, Singapore and Washington D.C.
Our Mission: Science, Technology, and Global Impact
Our organisation sits at the intersection of science, technology, and global supply chains. We use data, analytics, and services to verify the true origin of materials, building trust, transparency, and accountability across complex global networks.
Our work helps protect people, support ethical sourcing, and drive more sustainable supply chains worldwide. As demand for transparency and credible verification continues to grow, so too does the need for sharper, more actionable market intelligence that helps us identify where to compete, and win.
We are now seeking a Senior Research Analyst to play a pivotal role in shaping our growth strategy through data, insight, and commercial clarity.
About the Role
The Senior Research Analyst sits at the intersection of market insight, commercial strategy, and data-driven decision making.
You’ll equip our leadership, marketing, and commercial teams with clear, actionable intelligence that accelerates growth, helping Oritain identify the right markets, customers, and opportunities to pursue.
Blending strategic thinking with hands-on execution, you’ll lead market sizing, competitor intelligence, and prospect identification- turning complex datasets into practical recommendations that inform sales, marketing, and product direction.
This is a high-impact individual contributor role, reporting directly to the CMO, with the opportunity to shape how Oritain builds and scales its market intelligence capability- including the tools, data, and AI approaches we invest in.
Working cross-functionally with our marketing, new markets and product teams, you’ll ensure insight is not only generated, but embedded into decision-making across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
You will lead Oritain’s market sizing efforts (TAM, SAM, SOM), applying both top-down and bottom-up methodologies to identify and quantify growth opportunities across priority sectors and regions.
A central focus of the role will be delivering high-quality competitor and market intelligence. You’ll track trends, analyse competitor positioning, and translate findings into clear recommendations that inform commercial strategy, product development, and go-to-market planning.
You’ll take ownership of market data and prospect intelligence, working closely with the Marketing Growth function to manage and enrich databases. This includes identifying high-value target accounts and building detailed prospect lists aligned to our Serviceable Available Market.
You’ll collaborate closely with revenue operations, sales, and marketing teams to support targeted outreach- ensuring insight is directly connected to pipeline generation and commercial impact.
You’ll produce clear, compelling reports and presentations for stakeholders across the business, including the executive leadership team and board- turning data into narratives that drive alignment and action.
Using strong analytical thinking, you’ll connect external market data with internal performance insights, creating a more complete picture of opportunity and enabling smarter, faster decision-making.
You’ll also stay at the forefront of industry trends, data sources, and emerging technologies, particularly AI, recommending improvements to how we collect, analyse, and operationalise market intelligence.
Skills & Experience
You bring strong credentials and experience in market research, strategy, or commercial insights, ideally within a B2B environment. You’re comfortable owning end-to-end analysis- from sourcing and modelling data through to presenting strategic recommendations.
You have proven experience in market sizing (TAM, SAM, SOM) and understand how to translate this into tangible commercial opportunities and prioritisation decisions.
You’re highly analytical, with experience in competitor research, data modelling, and insight generation. You’re confident working with data tools, CRM systems, and large datasets to extract meaningful, actionable insights.
You’re an excellent communicator, able to distil complex information into clear, compelling narratives for a range of audiences, including senior leadership.
You’re detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
You’re comfortable being hands-on “on the tools” while also contributing strategically, thriving in a role with broad scope and high ownership.
You have an interest in, or experience with, AI and automation in research and analytics workflows, and are excited by the opportunity to shape how these capabilities are adopted at Oritain.
Experience in sustainability, supply chains, or traceability is highly advantageous, but not essential.
